Internship

Be Part of a Colorado Tradition - Participate in the 42nd Annual CHUN Capitol Hill People's Fair!!

Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods, Inc. (CHUN) seeks 2-3 spring semester intern(s) to help plan and coordinate the 2013 CHUN Capitol Hill People's Fair, an annual large-scale arts & crafts and music festival the first full weekend in June.  Interns will gain experience in event production, corporate sponsorship, marketing, public relations, and nonprofit management.  While a wide variety of work will be necessary, interns are welcome and encouraged to focus on an area of specific interest to them.

The People’s Fair interns will work closely with the CHUN Staff and the People's Fair Steering Committee.  Some of the specific areas of focus will be: assisting with the application and selection process for People’s Fair artists, food vendors, musicians and non-profit vendors; assisting with P.R. and marketing duties such as helping to edit press releases and e-mail blasts, assembling and distributing press kits, distributing posters and fliers, making credentials and VIP passes, assisting in promotional events for the People’s Fair and other various tasks.  Interns will also help manage our website and database for CHUN and the People’s Fair, assist with social media postings, management of our blog, and assist in producing our monthly newsletter and bi-monthly e-mail blasts.  In addition, the work load will include some administrative duties such as making copies, answering the phone, data entry, and research.  Some physically demanding work will be required on-site at the People’s Fair.  The People’s Fair interns must be available to work long hours the entire event weekend (June 1 and 2) including set-up days (May 30 and 31).  Interns will also be expected to work the week after the People’s Fair, to help with closing duties.

The People’s Fair interns will also attend some staff meetings, monthly planning meetings with the People’s Fair Steering Committee, and serve as staff support for People’s Fair meetings and events leading up to.  This position will afford the opportunity to learn all aspects of producing a major annual city festival.  The opportunity exists to work with different city and state agencies, to meet and develop important contacts with people in the events industry, and to gain valuable experience in the planning, production, and promotion of an annual event which draws 250,000 attendees every year.

Résumé and cover letter for applicants will be due in the CHUN office by Friday, November 30 at 5:00 pm, however we will accept résumés after Nov 30 until the positions are filled.  Please e-mail résumé to Andrea Furness (andreafurness@chundenver.org).  Interns may work 15-30 hours per week.
